GAINESVILLE - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County has been selected as the after-school care provider for the five Gainesville City elementary schools.
The Clubs will offer after-school programs that will focus on these areas:
*Academics - homework help and tutoring
*Healthy Lifestyles – Club Fit program, recreational sports, and nutritional education
*Character & Citizenship – enrichment activities to encourage community engagement and strong character
The award of after-school programs was made after an open Request for Proposals from youth agencies, according to school system officials.
Registration will be held at the Positive Place Club, July 30-Aug. 8 and at open house at the schools on Aug. 9 from 11:00-1:00 or from 4:00-6:00.
Fees for the program are as follows:
*Annual Club Membership Fee: $40
*Weekly Fee (School sites only): $20 per child
The Boys & Girls Clubs are currently a 21st Century Grant partner with Gainesville Exploration Academy and Lyman Hall Elementary. Fair Street Elementary was awarded a Clubs extension site designation by Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2011 and New Holland Core Knowledge Academy was recently awarded a Club extension site designation as well.
Both Gainesville Exploration Academy and Fair Street are Atlanta Falcons Fit Zone and the Carol White Physical Education Program (PEP) partners.
