Members of the Georgia Mountain YMCA U-14 boys soccer team prepare to play in the National President's Cup.
The Georgia Mountain YMCA Under-14 boys soccer team just missed out on a national championship last week.
The group, made up of players from South Hall, North Hall, East Hall, Chestatee and Gainesville, traveled to compete in the National President's Cup in Sacramento, Calif., falling 1-0 in overtime in the tournament finale to New Jersey.
Georgia defeated Washington 1-0 and Indiana 2-0 to reach the finals.
Team Georgia advanced to the national tournament by winning first the Georgia President's Cup last month and then finishing second in the Region III President's Cup in Greensboro, N.C. Georgia fell to Florida in the regional title game but went in Florida's place to the national tournament after Florida declined to travel.
Georgia defeated Arkansas 8-1, Mississippi 4-1, tied North Texas 1-1 and beat North Carolina in the semifinals.
