Forsyth County park opens
FORSYTH – Forsyth County officially opened the new Caney Creek Preserve today with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The park features 1.2 miles of walking trails, a dog park, natural amphitheatre, and a one-of-a-kind playground with an archeological dig site, just to name a few.
Caney Creek Preserve was the first of four new green space parks Forsyth County will be opening. The remaining parks – Haw Creek Park, Chattahoochee Pointe, and Old Atlanta Park – are scheduled to open late next week.
The land acquisition for these parks was funded by the Parks, Recreation, and Green Space Bond approved by voters in 2008. Construction of the parks was funded by a combination of the Parks, Recreation, and Green Space Bond, Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), and Impact Fees.
The 63-acre green space is located at 2755 Caney Road, west of the intersection of Caney Road and Brookwood Road.
