Area golfers finish up at GSGA junior championship

ALBANY -- Gainesville's Jackson Bishop turned in the best finish amongst the area golfers competing in the Georgia State Golf Association’s boys Junior Championship on Wednesday.

Bishop totaled a 225 on Wednesday after firing a 3-over 75 on the last day of the tournament at Doublegate Country Club in Albany. The score put Bishop in a tie for 24th.

Bishop was joined by four Red Elephants teammates, including Grant Lasseter with a 226, Lawson King and Pep Brown, each with a 228, and Reeves Bell with a 241.

Lumpkin County's Joseph Jarrard also fired a 233 over the three-day format.

Duluth's Andy Shim won the tournament, going under par on each of his three rounds, including a 2-under 70 on Wednesday. Shin finished 11-under for the tournament.
