Northside's Atlanta, Cumming locations recognized for cardiac care

ATLANTA - Northside Hospital-Atlanta and Northside Hospital-Forsyth have received the UnitedHealth Premium specialty center designation in recognition of quality care in cardiac services.

UnitedHealthcare developed the UnitedHealth Premium specialty center program to give its members information and access to hospitals meeting "rigorous quality criteria." The designation is based on detailed information about specialized training, practice capabilities and outcomes and is designed to help members make informed decisions should they need cardiac services care. To receive it, Northside underwent an extensive evaluation of its staff, services and procedures with a set of specific quality criteria and guidelines based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice.

Northside Hospital is home to many board-certified cardiologists and cardiac and radiology-trained nurses and technologists, who provide specialized cardiac care. Numerous diagnostic, treatment and support services – encompassing the entire continuum of care for the heart patient – are available at locations across North Metro Atlanta.

In 2010, Northside began offering Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), previously known as angioplasty, at its hospitals in Atlanta, Cherokee and Forsyth. Renovations also have been made to the hospital’s Cath Labs and critical and progressive cardiac care units. In addition, Northside Hospital-Atlanta and Northside Hospital-Forsyth have received accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, signifying their high level of expertise in treating patients with heart attack symptoms.

In addition to the cardiac designation, both Northside Hospital-Atlanta and Northside Hospital-Forsyth received recognition in total joint replacement care, while Northside Hospital-Atlanta received a third designation for surgical spine care.
