Hall County considers mobile storm alert systemBy Katie Crumley Access Insider GAINESVILLE - Emergency managers in Hall County hope to be able to send storm alerts to residents to their phones or mobile devices.
Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the county's proposed budget includes $25,000 earmarked for the emergency notification system. "We've looked at one that would allow us to draw an area around an incident and notify all the land lines in that area instantaneously," he said. Kimbrell said residents can opt into the program with their cell phones as well. He said the system could also be used to tell residents if inclement weather is approaching or if school has been canceled or cut short for any reason.
