GAINESVILLE - Fire did between $40,000 and $50,000 damage to a Gainesville home over the weekend.

Gainesville Fire Chief John Canada said it happened in the 1300 block of Lakeshore Place.

"The fire was discovered by a neighbor who called 911. There were no injuries to any firefighters or any homeowners," Canada said.

According to Canada, an electrical short near an outdoor floodlight caused the Saturday night attic fire.

"Fire damage was contained to the second floor and roof/attic area. The remainder of the home did receive light smoke damage and some water damage," Canada said.

No one was home at impacted house. The call came in just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday.
