CLEVELAND - The White County Farmers' Market will be held this year, despite some earlier doubt.
The doubt came earlier this month when the Headwaters Master Gardeners advised the county they did not want to be involved this year. The primary reason they gave was an indemnification and wavier of liability requirement included with their permitting form.
Over the past few days, White County Manager Mike Melton has been working with the master gardeners to resolve the issue. He said Monday they have a green light for this year's market.
"We have all those issues resolved and they are ready to go this year, I think that is a good thing for the community," Melton said.
The farmers market located in the rear parking area of the White County Courthouse has been managed by the master gardeners since 2009. Jimmy O'Neill, spokesman for the master gardeners, said the group is excited the issue has been resolved.
He said many farmers have planted in anticipation of the market being held.
O'Neill said the market is set to open on Saturday June 16th at 7:00 a.m.
