Brenau's BULLI headed to Braselton
BRASELTON - Citizens of Braselton have harnessed their own resources to create the first satellite campus of BULLI, Brenau University Learning and Leisure Institute.
Brenau began the popular program for adults with intellectual curiosity and a love of learning 18 years ago. The new venture in Braselton is a pilot program that depends on course offerings, enrollment and financial support.
BULLI offers non-credit classes for mature adults looking to stimulate their thinking and expand their knowledge. Many adults are retiring early or are able to take daytime classes and wish to continue their education, so in 1994, BULLI was started. Uniquely, the Braselton campus will offer day and night classes and membership will be reciprocal with the Gainesville BULLI program.
The Braselton campus has been the vision of a group of volunteers, but needs help to make it a reality. The group is seeking pledges of support.
Individuals and businesses who make a donation not only receive the tax deduction benefits, but are recognized through the Brenau University giving program. They can make their full donation now, or pledge an amount per year. The group needs to raise monies to fund the instructors, materials for class participants, pay a share of the staff time for those making the commute from Gainesville to Braselton and all the other expenses from postage to printing.
Classes will be offered in Braselton starting this summer. Registration is May 17 at 6:30 in the Community Room of the Braselton Police and Municipal Court building.
