PINE MOUNTAIN - The North Georgia women's golf team shot an aggregate total of 327 to sit in sixth place after the opening round of the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Tournament contested at the par-71 Callaway Gardens.

Flagler shot a team total of 303 to hold a one shot lead over Armstrong after the opening round. UNC Pembroke is three shots off the pace in third, while Lander and Columbus State round out the top five.

Armstrong's Kristen Sammarco shot a PBC Tournament record six-under-par 65 to hold a comfortable seven shot lead over Flagler's Elin Karlsson. There was a logjam at third as four players were tied at three-over-par.

The Lady Saints sit 24 shots off the pace in sixth, while holding a one shot lead over seventh place Montevallo.

Fresh off earning Second Team All-Conference honors Catalina Olarte was the low scorer for North Georgia in the opening round firing a five-over-par 76. Olarte birdied the par 4 sixth and the par 5 ninth to sit in a tie for eighth heading into the final round.

Following Olarte was sophomore Casey Truelove who fired a 10-over-par 81 to sit in 20th place heading into the final round. Truelove got off to a rough start, bogeying the opening hole, but rebounded by paring the second and third. Truelove would later birdie the par 3 16th.

Erica Breeden started out her round with back-to-back pars before double bogeying the third and bogeying the fourth. Breeden ended the first round with a double bogey on 18 to leave her with a 14-over-par 85 heading into round two. Breeden is currently sitting a tie for 28th place with teammate Abbey Gill.

Playing in her first-ever conference tournament Gill got off to a solid start paring the first hole, but then she ran into some trouble bogeying both the second and third holes. Gill would later rebound with a birdie on the par 5 14th.

Rounding out the scorers for the Lady Saints was LeeAnn Noble who fired a 98 to hold sole possession of 35th heading into the final round. Noble started out by paring the first hole, but ran into trouble at the second hole putting out a seven for a quadruple bogey.

The Lady Saints wrap up their season and the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Tournament tomorrow, April 10. North Georgia will tee off at 9 a.m. at Callaway Gardens.
