GAINESVILLE - An official with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it was a false allegation of sexual assault that landed a former Hall County jailer behind bars herself.
GBI Special Agent in Charge Kim Williams says 31-year-old Erica Juarez told authorities on April 1 that one of her co-workers at the jail sexually assaulted her while the two were off duty.
According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, the investigation into the incident was turned over to the GBI, who determined Juarez made a false claim.
The release said Juarez and the accused co-worker both resigned during the course of the investigation.
Authorities said Juarez was arrested for making a false claim, was booked into the Hall County Jail Friday and later was released on bond.
