Red Clay Interactive's Zach Abernathy joins WordPress as Core Contributor
GAINESVILLE – Red Clay Interactive Development Director Zach Abernathy has joined the WordPress community as a Core Contributor.
In this volunteer role, Abernathy will be working on the team integrating design and useability features for iPad and Kindle Fire users in the next full software release of WordPress.
WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg asked Abernathy to become a contributing developer at this year's WordCamp Atlanta, a two-day conference covering key topics related to WordPress, free and open source publishing software.
"I was excited to meet Matt, a legend in the field of open source programming," Abernathy said. "I was even more honored after our discussion to be asked to join the responsive design team that will give iPad and Kindle Fire users the tools they need to control their WordPress web sites from their devices.”
As head web developer at Red Clay Interactive, Abernathy keeps the development up-to-date on the latest tools and innovations for digital marketing. In addition, his hands-on approach keeps him involved in building a number of sites for clients. Versed in development techniques for everything from web sites to BlackBerry's and iPhones, Abernathy is a resource for the entire staff.
"This is a great opportunity for Zach, and we congratulate him on the tremendous effort he has placed in moving our company into the WordPress community," said Lance Compton, CEO of Red Clay Interactive.
Over the years, Red Clay Interactive has supported the Atlanta interactive and web development community, and served as a sponsor of the 2012 WordCamp Atlanta conference.
