Santorum denounces Obama during Cumming rally

CUMMING - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum spoke to an overflow audience at the giant First Redeemer Church in Cumming Sunday night during what was billed as a ‘God and Country’ rally.

The former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator delivered, for the most part, a ‘God and Country’ speech, pitting himself and his conservative audience against what he termed the liberal, socialist Obama administration. He offered voters a choice on Super Tuesday.

“Someone who can clearly go after President Obama on issue after issue, draw clear bright contrasts, make him accountable for the record he has,” Santorum said. "That’s your choice, two weeks from Tuesday."

An estimated 3,000 people filled the church to hear Santorum blast Obama policies that he said threaten personal freedom and cherished institutions.

“We need to build those foundational institutions of the church,” he said. “Defend the church, defend the family, defend the non-profit community, defend them against a government that wants to weaken them.”

Santorum had nothing to say about his Republican opponents but he had plenty to say about the Obama mandate on health insurance.

“The President is out there and his people are out there trying to wipe out anything between them and the individual, so when there’s a problem they look to the government,” Sandorum said. “When that happens, America as we know it isn’t going to be America as we know it.”
