CHESTNUT MOUNTAIN - Eagle Ranch, a Christian home for children in crisis, is hosting its annual Fall Open House Sunday 2-5 p.m.

Since opening its doors in 1985, Eagle Ranch has helped hundreds of children work through difficulties in all aspects of their lives – from family and social relationships to academic performance and more.

This year’s open house will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of Ranch’s first two girls’ homes as well as an on-campus, SACS-accredited school for grades six through nine. All homes on the Ranch – including six boys’ homes and four girls’ homes – will be open for tours, conducted by Ranch staff and children. Other facilities, including the school, administration and counseling center, chapel, lodge and more will also be open, as well.

This yearly event offers an informal visit to the ranch that typically draws neighbors, church groups, and other supporters. It is free and everyone is welcome. The staff will provide guests with campus maps upon arrival, and visitors may leisurely explore the grounds on foot or in their own vehicles. Refreshments will be served.

Meanwhile, Eagle Ranch invites couples interested in becoming houseparents to come to Open House and learn more about what this important position involves. A complete description of the houseparent position, as well as a helpful Q&A, can be found at EagleRanch.org. Additionally, families with a child who is struggling can visit with Eagle Ranch’s referral coordinator and receive information at The Wink Wynne Lodge.

“Our annual open house gives our supporters and friends an opportunity to see all aspects of our program. It’s also a great time of year to enjoy the natural beauty of the Ranch,” said Eddie Staub, founder and executive director. “We’re particularly excited to recognize the 10th anniversary of two key aspects of Eagle Ranch: the school and the addition of a girls’ program.”

Eagle Ranch works with children in crisis, focusing on family restoration and reunification. Founded in 1985, the Ranch serves children from North Georgia and metro Atlanta, providing home life, counseling and education for the children on a 270-acre campus in southern Hall County. It is the largest long-term residential facility for children in Georgia. Through its global outreach program – the Wings Initiative – Eagle Ranch also equips others called to develop homes for children in need.
