UNDATED - Forecasters are calling for more very hot weather across Georgia through the weekend and beyond and more record highs were recorded across the state Thursday.

High temperatures from the mid-90s to about 100 are forecast through Tuesday with only a slim chance of rain.

The record highs Thursday included 101 in Columbus (breaking the old record of 98 in 1998); Albany which had a high of 99 (breaking the old record of 98 in 1998); and Rome, with a 97 (breaking the old record of 96 in 2002).

The high in Gainesville Thursday was 93, two shy of the record of 95 which was set in 1951.

The state EPD says the air quality index in metro Atlanta and as far north as Gainesville is forecast at 124, which it calls unhealthy for sensitive groups.
