Lakeview Academy boys basketball coach Seth Vining will go for win No. 700 on Tuesday in Gainesville.
GAINESVILLE -- Lakeview Academy boys basketball coach Seth Vining already has a resume that puts him amongst the state's all-time greats.
Four state titles (two boys crowns in 2001 and 03 and two girls crowns in 1979 and 1980) with the programs at East Hall highlight a career that has also included success at the collegiate level -- Vining coached Gainesville State College when the school fielded a basketball team.
And sometime soon, Vining will add another amazing milestone, as the coach sits poised for career victory No. 700.
Vining, who took over the boys program at Lakeview in 2005, watched his Lions claim victory No. 699 for him on Friday night in a 47-34 victory over Prince Avenue -- the team's sixth win in eight games.
Lakeview (9-9, 3-1 Region 8A-A) will play host to Social Circle on Tuesday in Gainesville, with the boys game tipping off at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The rest of the week's schedule sees Lakeview traveling to face Athens Christian on Friday and at Athens Academy on Saturday.
Vining has led the Lions to the state tournament in each of his previous six seasons with the program.
