Dawsonville man killed on Hwy. 53

DAWSONVILLE - A Friday evening rush hour wreck on Dawsonville Highway has claimed the life of a former Lumpkin County Commissioner.

The Georgia State Patrol said Saturday 71-year-old Charlie Alex Ridley was killed in the accident that shut down the roadway between War Hill Park Road and Dawson Forrest Boulevard.

Troopers could not confirm the number of vehicles involved in the accident, nor could they say which vehicle Ridley occupied at the time of the accident.

An investigation continues.
