ATLANTA - Jennifer Landers, regional marketing director for Newland Communities, was named “Marketing Director of the Year” at the recent 29th Annual Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association OBIE Awards. The Sales and Marketing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association presents the OBIE Awards each November to honor building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement in the home building industry.

As regional marketing director for Newland Communities, Landers oversees all marketing and public relations programs for Newland’s Georgia properties including Sterling on the Lake in Flowery Branch. She’s responsible for advertising, managing builder relations, coordinating Realtor relations programs and community events. She started with Newland Communities in 2003 as marketing manager, where she was involved in the grand opening design and execution of the marketing for Sterling on the Lake, which in 2006 won a Community of the Year OBIE Award for the Master Plan category.

“It’s such an honor, and a career highlight, to receive this OBIE Award,” Landers said. “This is a significant achievement not only for me personally, but for Sterling on the Lake and Newland Communities. With the challenges currently facing the U.S. housing market, we’ve had to be particularly innovative in our marketing strategies, and it’s gratifying to be recognized for those achievements.”

The Marketing Director of the Year category was judged on a number of factors including professionalism, development and execution of marketing plans, unique marketing ideas, personal involvement in the industry and community, and working relationships. Industry professionals around the country judge the awards.

Sterling on the Lake also won a Gold Award for Best Ad Campaign - Developer for its “Put Your Feet Up” program, a service that helped home buyers transition more easily into a new home. In addition, Sterling Life, the community support organization of Sterling on the Lake, won a Silver Award for Community Service.

The OBIE Awards began in 1980 and have grown to become the premier honor given to companies in the Atlanta housing industry. With more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories, the OBIE Awards continue to grow and change with the industry.
