Boys basketball: Lumpkin boys win opener

The Lumpkin County boys basketball team defeated Jackson County on a basket by E.J. Young as time expired to win their season-opener on Monday.
Young finished with nine points, nine assists and 12 rebounds. Lemarco Lewis led the Indians with 12 points. Taylor Guthrie also added 10 points.
Joseph Smith had 23 points and Jarvis Shaw had 18 to lead Jackson County.
Lumpkin County plays Union County at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the White County Invitational in Cleveland.
