OAKWOOD - Loved ones gathered Friday afternoon at Gainesville State College to remember Francine Dibben, long time Business manager for the Gainesville Theatre Alliance.

Dibben died in late October after a two-year battle with cancer; friends and colleagues came to remember how she touched their lives.
Gainesville Theatre Alliance Director Jim Hammond said for 20 years she was the heart and soul of GTA.

“What Francine was always committed to and focused on was how we could take theatre and turn it into something that could reach out into the community and benefit as many people as possible,” Hammond said.

Dibben had a strong involvement in theatre and the community as a member of the Georgia Professional Ticketing Association, the Atlanta Coalition of the Performing Arts and the Southeastern Theatre Conference.
She also served on the Clermont Town Council and the Hall County Human Relations Council, but the diversity of her life did not stop there.

Robin Hale, a colleague and friend for 24 years, recalled she was a great cook and baker, and loved nature and gardening.

“She will always be a shining star in our lives, a standard for friendship, for human kind, a model of what a really good human being is,” Hale said.
