Dawson girls open season in dominating fashion

DAWSONVILLE – The Dawson County girls basketball team opened the season with a dominating 64-5 win over Oglethorpe County Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers held Oglethorpe to just one point in the first quarter while building a 21-1 lead. The Dawson County defense then held the Lady Patriots scoreless over the second and third quarters while running out to a 52-1 lead after the third quarter.

A dozen players scored for the Lady Tigers in the game. Freshman Kenna Seitz led Dawson County with 10 points. Morgan Bennett added nine, and Kaitlyn Pain, Hannah Porter, and Judith Hall all had 8 points each for the Lady Tigers. Alyss Woody had six, Amanda Sheriff four, Erin Gordon had three, and Natalie Parker, Carly Gilreath, Jessi Phillips, and Allie Costly all had 2 points apiece.

Oglethorpe was led by Kristen Baker with 3 points. Jessica McComons scored two for the Lady Patriots.

Dawson County next will play host to Cross Keys at Friday night at 6 p.m.
