EPD fines Cumming, Jackson Co.

ATLANTA - The state Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has fined the City of Cumming and Jackson County a total of $44,500 for violations of state environmental regulations.

Cumming was fined $40,000 for violations at its Aquatic Center on Pilgrim Mill Road. Included were a stream buffer encroachment, and an improper Sedimentation and Pollution Control Plan.

In Jackson County, meanwhile, county commissioners have agreed to a $4,500 settlement with EPD for erosion and sediment control violations at the county airport in Jefferson.
