White Sulphur Elementary student drowns

PENDERGRASS - Authorities confirm that the child who fell into a Pendergrass pool Thursday afternoon has died.

Officials said 5-year-old Chad Michael Borphy was pulled from a pool at 1582 Pittman Road around 1:30 p.m. Thursday and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

David McCoy with Jackson County Emergency Services said as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, medical personnel were still performing resuscitative efforts on the child.

Chad was a kindergarten student at White Sulphur Elementary School.
