Woman arrested after driving across courthouse courtyard
GAINESVILLE - An intoxiacted driver made a number of wrong turns in downtown Gainesville Wednesday morning, including driving across the Hall County Courthouse courtyard.
Gainesville Police Lt. Carol Martin said officers responded to the courthouse parking deck around 9 a.m. to assist courthouse security as they detained 56-year-old Diane Freeman.
"They'd observed the driver going the wrong way on Spring Street," Martin said. "She drove between two barricades at the courthouse, drove through the courtyard, then came back out onto Henry Ward Way which is adjacent to Jesse Jewell Parkway."
Martin said Freeman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and one-way and rotary traffic. She said Freeman was then transported to the Hall County Detention Center.
