Wrecks, wind, rain as Ida moves northward

UNDATED - As what's left of Hurricane Ida churns its way northward from the Gulf Coast, the National Weather Service (NWS) says Georgians should brace themselves for strong winds in addition to possible flash flooding.

A Wind Advisory - for gusts of 35 miles an hour or more - has been posted for north and central Georgia.

In addition, we are still expecting up to 6 inches of rain in places. By 9:30 this morning (Tuesday morning), nearly an inch of rain (.85) had already fallen at the Gainesville airport and Buford had recorded just over an inch (1.05).

Rain began falling during the night and continue through the morning rush hour, heavy at times... making for a rough commute around north Georgia.

In Hall County alone, at least a dozen people were injured in nine wrecks that occurred between 7:00-9:30 but none of the injuries were serious. . At least two of the injured were trapped for time.
