OAKWOOD - The City of Oakwood's new $9.8 million budget won final approval of the city council Monday night.
The tax rate, which was approved last month, is 2.48 mills... the same that it has been the past ten years.
MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT WITH GSC
Also Monday night, the council was briefed on a mutual aid agreement between the Oakwood Police Department and Gainesville State College... an effort, according to Police Chief Randall Moon, to be proactive in case of "future overwhelming events."
“(It) allows (the security) chief at Gainesville State to call on Oakwood if they should have some type of catastrophic event or something that overwhelms his department, it allows him to request us to come to the scene and assist policing the issue at hand,” Moon said.
Moon said his officers would respond naturally if something were to happen but the agreement just smooths out the legal aspects of the forces aiding each other.
REZONINGS
The council approved two rezoning requests Monday night.
J. Rogers Odell, Lurene S. Odell and Donald E. Odell wanted to rezone 38.95 acres from Oakwood PCD “ Planned Commercial Development” and PRD “ Planned Residential Development” to Oakwood R-1 “Single Family Residential.” The property is located at 3605 Atlanta Highway.
Milton Robson requested the rezoning of 7.66 acres from Hall County H-B “Highway Business” and AR-III “ Agricultural Residential” to Oakwood PRD “ Planned Residential Development.“ That tract is at 3511 Osborne Road.
