Prep football: Some area teams slide up in rankings

North Hall, Apalachee, Creekview and North Gwinnett each moved up spots in the latest prep football polls released Tuesday.

North Hall climbed to eighth in Class AAA in the Ga.Prepcounty.com coaches rankings. The Trojans (7-2, 5-0 Region 7A-AAA), who clinched the Region 7A-AAA title last week, are also receiving votes in the latest Associated Press poll.

Subregion rivals Creekview also moved up in the AP poll this week, climbing to ninth. The Grizzlies (8-1, 4-1) are unranked in the coaches poll.

Undefeated North Gwinnett (9-0, 7-0 Region 7-AAAAA) moved up to No. 2 in both Class AAAAA top 10s after Northside, Warner Robins suffered an upset loss to Warner Robins (21-20) last week and slid down.

Apalachee also jumped up in Class AAAA, as the Wildcats moved to 9-0 overall and in Region 8-AAAA last week. Apalachee is now ranked fourth in the coaches poll and sixth by the AP.

Other area teams maintained their spots. Gainesville (9-0, 4-0 Region 7B-AAA) is still No. 1 in Class AAA in both polls, while Buford (8-1, 5-1 Region 6-AA) is third in Class AA in both sets of rankings. Jefferson (9-0, 8-0 Region 8-AA) also remained fourth in the coaches poll and seventh in the AP.
