Hall fire services pioneer dies

By Ken Stanford Editor
GAINESVILLE - The man who owned and operated the first countywide fire department in Hall County - the forerunner to today's Hall County Fire Department - has died.

James Terrell "Jim" Squires, 76, Gainesville, died Thursday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Squires was the founder of Amit Hearing Aids, and was a private investigator with Southeastern Investigations. He started Suburban Fire Department in 1963 and it was later bought by Hall County Fire Services.

Graveside services will be 11:00 Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
