UNDATED - Trick-or-treaters will be taking over downtown in Gainesville and Jefferson today.
Each city is hosting its annual Halloween event for little ghosts and goblins but this year they are doing it one day before All Hallows Eve.
Gainesville's Trick-or-Treat on the Square is planned from 3:30-5:30. In Jefferson, 4:00-7:00 has been set aside for the annual Halloween Walk.
Tomorrow, the City of Clarkesville will host its trick-or-treat downtown event from 5:00-7:00.
Law enforcement, meanwhile, is making extra plans for Halloween this year because it falls on Saturday. Officers say that means an increase in traffic on the streets and roads Halloween night, with the potential for even more drunk drivers as people head home from Halloween parties and other gatherings.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office is one of the agencies planning beefed-up patrols Saturday night.
