WINDER - Barrow County drug agents have arrested a detention center officer in an undercover drug operation.

Jeremy Robert Haney was arrested Thursday morning after deputies said he bought controlled substances from an undercover officer. Haney is accused of buying a small quantity of hydrocodone, a controlled substance. He was arrested without incident.

The 30-year-old, from Bethlehem, had been working for the Barrow County Detention Center for about a year and a half. Authorities said Haney supervised inmates and did not have regular contact with the general public in his job.

Haney is currently in custody in an undisclosed location.

In addition to drug charges, Haney has been charged with violating his oath of office.
