Fire at Oakwood apt. complex

OAKWOOD - The early morning quiet at Audobon Apartments in Oakwood was shattered when fire trucks rolled up there about 5:15 Monday morning.

They were responding to a report of a kitchen fire.

"(The) caller stated (the) kitchen was on fire," Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said. "Upon arrival firefighters found fire was out."

Kimbrell said the woman who placed the 9-1-1 call thought she turned on the oven but had turned on an eye on the stovetop, instead.

"When she discovered the fire on the stovetop she extinguished it with a portable fire extinguisher," Kimbrell added.

He said the fire caused no damage.
