Arrest made in sexual battery incident at Brenau
GAINESVILLE - A Brenau University employee is charged with child molestation and sexual battery after an incident earlier this week that police say occurred at the address of the Brenau campus.
Sgt. Shawn Welsh with the Gainesville Police Department said police responded to 500 Washinton Street earlier this week after getting reports of a sexual battery involving a juvenile.
"As a result of the investigation, the Gainesville Police Department arrested Kevin Hollomon, 44, of Comer, Georgia," said Welsh.
He said Hollomon now awaits a bond hearing since sexual battery is considered a felony.
Brenau spokesman David Morrison said Hollomon is an employee with Brenau University.
"As far as his status is concerned, that is a personnel matter," Morrison said. "We are very mindful of the privacy of students and are obliged to protect the privacy of students."
The suspect is currently housed at the Hall County Jail.
