Rain blamed for sewage spill
LULA - A sewage spill in Lula is blamed on Monday's heavy rains.
It amounted to about 1,600 gallons, according to city officials, and happened at the McLeod/Hood Street Pump Station.
Like many places in north Georgia, Lula pickup up 4-5 inches of rain on Monday.
City officials say the rain overloaded the transmission lines and the current pump capacity at the pump station. The station is scheduled to be replaced with construction expected to begin later this month.
