GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police Department has made an arrest in a deadly shooting at Atlanta Street Apartments Monday night, but the suspects in a shooting that occurred several hours later elsewhere in Hall County are still at large.

Lt. Carol Martin said officers arrested 18-year-old Christopher D. Slaughter of Gainesville with the murder of 19-year-old Aikeem Elijah Hall also of Gainesville.

Martin said this is still an active investigation. She said at this time a motive has not been determined and there are no other suspects.

Martin said investigators have found no connection with a separate shooting that also occurred Monday night on Old Athens Road near Floyd Road that left two people injured.

She said officers found Hall in the apartment parking lot when they arrived around 7:30 p.m. Monday. She said he was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he was pronounced dead minutes after arrival.

Meanwhile, two men were shot on Old Athens Road near Floyd Road later Monday around 10:30 p.m.

According to Sheriff's Colonel Jeff Strickland, 22-year-old Lewis E. Randolph and 32-year-old Michael T. Tate were walking down the road when they became involved in an altercation with several other men and were shot; the shooting suspects fled in an unidentified vehicle.

He said both men were transported to the medical center by ambulance. Michael Tate was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm. He said Randolph was treated for a gunshot wound to the mid section and is listed in stable condition.

No arrest have been made in this incident.

Strickland urged anyone with information about the Old Athens Road shooting to contact the Hall County Sheriff's office at 770-536-8812.
