OAKWOOD -- Flowery Branch kept up its offensive fireworks on Friday at Johnson, taking a 28-3 halftime advantage and pulling away with a 52-24 win in Oakwood.
Seven different Falcons (4-1, 1-0 Region 7B-AAA) players were responsible for touchdowns in the game, including Imani Cross, who ran for two scores.
Cross ripped off seven carries for 127 yards in the game and also had a 12-yard reception. Meanwhile, Flowery Branch quarterback Connor Shaw added 124 yards passing while going 9-of-14. He also rushed for 54 yards, as the Falcons rolled up 359 yards on the ground. It was part of a 514-yard performance for the Flowery Branch offense, which is averaging 37.4 points per game.
Darius Kimbrough, Rod Frazier, Byron Keith and Rodney Young also got on the scoreboard for the Falcons.
Johnson (1-4, 0-1) got a 12-yard field goal from Chris Henry in the first half but couldn't keep pace with Flowery Branch.
Mantevius Rucker, Tre Dudley and Seth Spivey added second-half touchdowns for the Knights, who finished with over 300 yards of offense but couldn't punch it in the end zone in the first half.
Quarterback Anthony Prophet led Johnson with 143 yards rushing on 14 carries and passed for 44 yards on four completions.
Each team shot itself in the foot with penalties, as the Branch was whistled 16 times for 140 yards, while Johnson was hit with 12 infractions for 126 yards.
Taylor Whitmire led the Knights defense with 8 tackles, seven solo. Micah Hester paced Flowery Branch with 15 total tackles, 10 solo.
The Falcons will play host to West Hall next Friday, while Johnson will play host to Creekview.
