Local Red Cross chapter helps flood victims
GAINESVILLE - As the flood waters recede, local non-profits are stepping in to see how they can assist North Georgia flood victims.
Philip Reed, Executive Director of the Northeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross, said the Toccoa area has been hit especially hard.
"We have five families up there who right now are being sheltered, they're actually staying in motels," said Reed.
He said they've also been assisting some families in south Forsyth County.
Reed said their assistance is only possible due to the generosity of the North Georgia community.
"We even had an 8-year-old boy who came by with his mom and gave us $25," he said.
Reed said if you want to help, you can log on to negaredcross.org and make a donation.
