UNDATED - The mother of the Lavonia pastor who was shot and killed by drug agents earlier this month said she wants answers.
Abigail Nelson spoke to Fox 5 News about her son's death.
"I just want them to explain to me why they murdered my son and look at me in my eye and tell me why they murdered him," said Nelson.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it may be weeks before their investigation into the shooting of Jonathan Ayers is complete.
Officers approached Ayers outside a Toccoa convenience store to talk to him about a passenger in his car, 26-year-old Kala Barrett, who was the subject of a drug investigation. Officers say Ayers refused to stop and backed into an undercover officer, forcing the officer to shoot.
"Why couldn't they have just taken him down when he was coming out of the store and just found out that he was innocent, or shoot his tires out, they just didn't have to shoot into his car," said Nelson.
Nelson told Fox 5 News that on his death bed, Ayers told his wife that he did nothing wrong.
