LULA - The winning bid is in for the new sewer pump station in Lula, after Monday night's meeting.
The bid went to Griffin Brothers in Banks County, and after deductions the price will be $33,000 less than the first plan.
"The original bid was $191,000," said Lula mayor Milton Turner. "And after we chose to use some diffent type pumps, different type generator, we were able to get the price down to $158,000."
Turner said Lula residents will not notice any difference to their sewer service. It's just a matter of replacing the current station, that's almost 30 years old.
"We're upgrading the system. It's done its duty, and it's time to replace it," said Turner.
The work should be done with the next 120 days, according to Turner.
