TOCCOA - "Who shot me?"

The last words of a dying northeast Georgia minister, according to his brother-in-law.

And, Matt Carpenter of Gainesville tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that should convince anyone that Jonathan Ayers did not know the people who confronted him outside a Toccoa convenience store Tuesday were undercover drug officers.

Carpenter says those were Ayers' dying words to the EMTs who attended him after he was shot.

Officers say a woman who was in Ayers' car was the target of their investigation. And, one member of his church speculated on why she was in the vehicle... telling Fox 5 he was the kind of person who would give anyone a ride if they look liked they were in need.

Meanwhile, Ayers - who numerous relatives in Gainesville - is to be buried this afternoon following a funeral a Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Lavonia, which he pastored.
