Dr. LaRoy Penix joins NGPG Neurology

GAINESVILLE – John Frontera, MD; Hector Gotay, MD; Jonathan Kerrick, MD; and the staff at Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Neurology welcome LaRoy Penix, MD, who joined the practice June 1.

Dr. Penix received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and completed his residency in neurology at UCLA in Los Angeles, Ca. He is board certified in neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Penix most recently served as the neurology clinic director at Southern Crescent Physicians Group in Riverdale, Ga.

"My wife, Sharon, and I are excited about moving our family to the Gainesville area,” says Dr. Penix. The couple has a 9-year-old son, Alexander.

Dr. Penix will also serve as Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s (NGMC) Stroke Program director. His responsibilities will include guiding overall care for all of NGMC’s stroke patients by reviewing the Medical Center’s policies and procedures for stroke care.

“I’ve dedicated much time researching and investigating various forms of stroke prevention, acute stroke intervention and how healthcare providers exchange information efficiently and securely,” says Dr. Penix. “This is my passion.”
