Storms fell trees, knock power out
UNDATED - Some trees were toppled as stormy weather moved across northeast Georgia overnight.
At least ten counties were under a severe thunderstorm warning at one time or another. Sharp lighting was reported in Gainesville which city police say resulted in sporadic power outages.
And, there were some trees blown down in the Commerce and Jefferson areas; in Banks County; and in White County.
Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell says lightning ran into two houses during the storms... one on Cow Poke Lane near Gillsville and the other on Shady Valley Lane in South Hall. In both instances, Kimbrell says, there were no fires. He does say, however, that a refrigerator in the house on Shady Valley Lane was destroyed by the lightning bolt.
