GAINESVILLE - Was George Washington in the audience during Council's voting session Tuesday at the Georgia Mountains Center?

No, it was Roscoe McMillan of Flowery Branch of the Sons of the American Revolution.
The local chapter presented 'Diligence of Duty Awards' to Fire Chief Jon Canada and former Chief Dick Taylor.

Council also recognized Pablo Santos for his assistance in helping city police capture a DUI offender after witnessing an accident on April 30th.

Police Chief Frank Hooper said Santos stopped to check on an injured motorcyclist and called 911, then pursued the repeat offender DUI truck driver who struck the cyclist and fled the scene.
Santos information led to the arrest of that motorist.
