North Georgia helps fulfill deployed troops 'wish lists'
By Staff
DAHLONEGA - North Georgia College & State University is taking part in the Support the Troops program through the Appalachian Community Bank in Dahlonega, to provide armed forces service members who are deployed overseas with personal items and care packages.
The program is designed to fulfill requests directly from troops' "wish lists" and send as many of those items during the month of June.
North Georgia has provided ten locations on campus for contributions to be made and more than 500 service members will receive the packages being assembled and mailed on June 30. Each campus location lists the types of items soldiers have requested, and the care packages will include a cross-section of these items, which include essentials, entertainment and comfort items. The collections will end June 24.
For more information about where to donate items on campus, contact Staff Council president Wendy Evans at 706-864-1547. The campus drive is co-sponsored by the North Georgia Staff Council, Faculty Senate and Student Government Association.
