Former GHS standout Hefflinger drafted in 7th round by Braves

GAINESVILLE – Former Flowery Branch and Gainesville High baseball standout Robbie Hefflinger was selected by the Atlanta Braves Wednesday in the seventh round of the 2009 Major League Draft.

Hefflinger, who graduated from Gainesville in 2008, was listed as an outfielder but played mainly catcher for the Red Elephants.

He played with Georgia Perimeter College this past season and earned a spot on the East-Central All District team as part of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Hefflinger also was named to the All Region (Georgia Junior College Athletic Association) first team.

Hefflinger batted .324 and hit 11 home runs, 12 doubles, and had 43 RBIs and scored 40 runs.
