LULA – A college professor from Lula won $52,000 playing the lottery.
Lottery officials said Robert Wainberg, 55, of Lula, won $1,000 a week for a year from matching five out of six winning numbers plus the Free Ball in the May 27 Win for Life drawing.
Circle M Food Shop #0012, 4504 Cornelia Highway in Lula, sold the winning ticket.
Wainberg said he learned of his lottery win while out getting gas.
"I was surprised," he said. "I feel pretty good."
Wainberg has worked as a biology professor for more than 20 years at Piedmont College in Demorest. With his wife, Patricia, the couple plan to pay bills.
"This is a nice feeling," said Wainberg.
