DOT awards $7.5 million for road improvements in NE Ga.

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded $10.5 million in stimulus funds to several north Georgia counties Friday including Hall, Banks, Habersham, Franklin and Towns.

DOT officials said construction should begin next month on the projects, all of which are resurfacing of state roads in the area.

Projects awarded Friday in North Georgia are:

Hall County - Resurfacing nine miles of State Route (S.R.) 283 from S.R. 60 to Dahlonega Highway (Project No. M003908)– Awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., Marietta, for $1,292,894;

Hall County – Resurfacing three miles of S.R. 11 from S.R. 323 to Monroe Drive (Project No. M003957) – Awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., for $1,136,626;

Walker County – Resurfacing 3.3 miles of S.R. 1 (Business) in La Fayette (Project No. M003920) – Awarded to Northwest Georgia Paving, Inc., Calhoun, for $687,393.

Greene County - Resurfacing 11.5 miles of State Route (S.R.) 44 from Putnam County line to S.R. 12 (Project No. M003992)– Awarded to Pittman Construction Co., Conyers, for $2,348.248;

Putnam County – Resurfacing eight miles of S.R. 16 from Jasper County line to U.S. Highway 129 (Project No. M003975) – Awarded to Pittman Construction Co. for $1,702,820;

Banks County – Resurfacing five miles of S.R. 164 from S.R. 51 to S.R. 59 (Project No. M003966) – Awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., Marietta, for $759,446;

Habersham County – Resurfacing four miles of S.R. 384 between S.R. 419 and Chattahoochee River (Project No. M003959) – Awarded to Colditz Trucking, Inc., Blairsville, for $615,167;

Franklin County – Resurfacing 9.5 miles of S.R. 51 from S. R. 59 to Hale Crossing Road (Project No. M003960) – Awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., for $998,159;

Towns County – Resurfacing 3.4 miles of S.R. 75 from S.R. 2 to North Carolina state line (Project No. M003907) – Awarded to Colditz Trucking, Inc., for $474,538; and

Madison County – Resurfacing 7.5 miles of S.R. 98 from U.S. Highway 29 to S.R. 72 (Project No. M003906) – Awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., for $788,936.
