Miller keynotes North Georgia commencement

DAHLONEGA - Zell Miller told North Georgia College & State University business students that effective leaders recognize those who help them achieve their goals.

The former Georgia governor and U.S. senator was the keynote speaker for the university’s Mike Cottrell School of Business spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, one of four ceremonies taking place at the university over the weekend. In all, 548 undergraduate and 107 graduate-level students will graduate as part of the ceremonies.

The first ceremony, for students from the School of Arts & Letters, was Friday evening. On Saturday., the School of Science & Health Professions held its commencement ceremony with Rick Borchelt, communications director of the Genetics and Public Policy Center at Johns Hopkins University, as the commencement speaker.

School of Education degree candidates graduated on Sunday, with Elizabeth Webb, director of Innovative Academic Programs in the Georgia Department of Education, as the commencement speaker.
