Rite Aid in Dahlonega reopens in permanent location Monday
DAHLONEGA - Just a month after a fire closed the Rite Aid at 566 E. Main Street, Dahlonega, the store will reopen Monday after operating from a mobile pharmacy on site.
“...I’m especially thankful to the local community for its continued support, our associates who worked tirelessly to keep us operating, and all of the workers who repaired the building on such an aggressive timeline,” said Rite Aid Regional Vice President Peter Barnett.
The morning after the fire, store associates began serving patients from a tent in 18-degree weather with heaters, shuttling prescriptions to be filled by the Rite Aid in Dawsonville and back to Dahlonega for patient pickup or delivery to their homes.
Within a week, Rite Aid was operating from a mobile pharmacy complete with prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, first aid products, hygiene and incontinence supplies, shaving products, food and snack items, and other basic necessities.
The store will be fully operational Monday.
Meanwhile, authorities announced Friday that arrests had been made in connection with the fire which was declared the work of arsonists within days of the blaze. (See separate story.)
