Soccer: Johnson boys keep rolling
By staff reports
GAINESVILLE -- The Johnson boys soccer team appears to have something special going.
After rolling to consecutive victories over ranked foes (3-1 over Lumpkin County and 2-0 over West Hall), the Knights kept their momentum rolling on Monday with a 3-0 defeat of Buford in the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville.
It was Johnson's (9-3, 5-2 Region 7-AAA) fourth straight victory.
Ariel Mejia scored twice, while Vicente Trujillo provided the other strike, as the Knights blanked Buford (4-8) -- which has now lost seven straight.
Christian Isidro, Chris Henry and Alan Garcia provided the assists for Johnson in its first game of the 25th annual tournament.
Alan Garcia kept the shutout in goal for the Knights with six saves.
Johnson will compete in its next Mountains Cup match on Wednesday against Chestatee at 7:30 p.m. at Chestatee High.
