DEMOREST – Two people died in separate accidents on north Georgia roadways on Friday. The first crash happened near Demorest; the second occurred in Franklin County.

The state patrol says the Demorest wreck happened on Hwy. 365 just south of Double Bridge Road when 74-year-old John Rogers, Jr. of Bainbridge lost control of his vehicle, killing his wife, Belva Jean Rogers, 71, who was a passenger in the car.

The Franklin County crash occurred on Hwy. 59 when a northbound car driven by Ralph Newton Bellamy, 81, Carnesville, crossed into a southbound lane, striking a vehicle head-on, according to the state patrol. A third vehicle was also involved in the wreck. Bellamy died in the collision, another driver, 35-year-old Anthony Sims of Commerce, was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center.
